Ever get hit by a storm?

I have an innate fear for open sea. I watched the movie 'A perfect Storm' and I read the book too. I fear things tsunamis and overly rocking boats. I won't even venture out so far to the point where you cannot see the land anymore. Call me paranoid, but the sea just seems to always be that large, unexplored beautiful OMEN at the end of the joy of fishing in it.
