Yeah they sometimes do get bitten apart. The problem is that they're not that strong. When a fish comes to bite it and misses the hook, it takes half the bait with it.

Normally that happens anyway with natural shrimp after a bite or two. I prefer the artificial ones for the cost factor. I would rather eat the real ones.
